The new trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is out and I have to say that I am a bit disappointed. While it was certainly not a bad trailer by any means, I just feel that it was missing something gripping.

There was a lot to love about it though. The dinosaurs all looked fantastic and the behind the scenes feature released a couple of days ago showed that a lot of them will be practical effects, something I cannot wait to see! One of the things that made the Jurassic park such an iconic movie was the fact that the dinosaurs felt that they were there, in the scene with the actors. This was something lost in the first Jurassic World movie so I’m glad to see they are going back to that.

All the acting in the trailer looks great. It starts off with Chris Pratt’s character catching up with Bryce Dallas Howard’s character. This obviously means that the relationship that  was teased at the end of the last movie never came to be. It will be interesting to see if they follow the same formula they did with the last movie of having them keep referencing past experiences with each other.

While we don’t find out anything about the new characters, on the surface they seem fine. Nothing stands out but nothing down right wrong so far. It will be nice to see if any of them become as iconic or as memorable as others before them.

Speaking of icons, Jeff Goldblum, Ian Malcolm is back! Just hearing him talk about Dinosaurs again was great and brought a real sense of nostalgia to the trailer. I would have liked to see him do a bit more to really get me more excited in seeing the movie, but it was at least nice to see him back.

While the trailer was visually very nice and showed a lot going on, there was not anything in the trailer to really grip me. I understand they are going down a different route than the movies before this. Having the humans work to help save the dinosaurs rather than stop them, but it just felt there were very little stakes. They created these dinosaurs so surely if the island blows up, they can just create more? Then once created, put them on the other island from Jurassic Park: The Lost World?

While the trailer was not bad by any means, I just felt that it was missing that main thing that made Jurassic Park movies so great, Dinosaurs hunting humans. While it might feel a bit of a trope, it defines the genre, and I’m worried that the creators of Fallen Kingdom are trying to do something so different that it doesn’t feel right. This is obviously just a teaser trailer and we will definitely be getting more information closer to the release date so I am more than happy to be proved wrong.

  1. You actually make it seem so easy together with your presentation but I to find this topic to be actually something which I feel I would by no means understand. It sort of feels too complex and very huge for me. I’m taking a look ahead for your subsequent post, I will try to get the hold of it!
