Marvel is not stopping! After last night’s surprise announcement, at the Black Panther premiere, Marvel has released the first teaser trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp. With the release of Black Panther less than 2 weeks away and Infinity War 2 months after that, I assumed Marvel would be focusing on those films, rather than giving us a teaser for this. Not that I am complaining of course. This was a great trailer and an awesome way to be re-introduced into the world of Hank Pym, Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne.
This trailer does a great job of telling us background information about the movie, without telling us what actually happens. We see Scott and Hope talking about Ant-Man’s inclusion in Civil War and the ramifications of that. This straight away shows the connection these characters have. We are told that Hank and Hope are on the run and we see how they are doing everything they can to avoid capture, and shrinking a building is definitely a good way of doing that.
This trailer shows me that they are really diving head first into the world of the Pym particle. One of my problems with the first movie was that they didn’t really do a lot of shrinking or working with size manipulation. If this trailer is anything to go by, that will not be a problem in this movie. They shrink and grow cars, toys, sweets, themselves, way more than anything we have seen before. I know I’ve never seen someone shrink to avoid a knife being thrown at them, only to then turn around and run along said knife! This is definitely going to add another fantastic element to the MCU.
The humor looks to be good in this movie as well. The first one was very funny, but I feel a lot of that was to do with Edgar Wright originally behind the project. It will be interesting to see how Peyton Reed’s work differs from his inherited one. The conversation between Scott and Hank about the wings is a good indication that I have nothing to worry about.
We do see a slight glimpse a potential villain, who looks to possibly be a version of Ghost, a villain who uses their skills in computing and hacking to create suits allowing the user to become invisible and intangible. This will be awesome to see if it turns out to be true and a great adversary to Ant-man and the Wasp.
VERDICT: INPATIENT CARE
This was obviously just a teaser trailer but if it is any indication of what’s to come, then I am all in. With the trailer showing cars driving under cars and buildings being shrunk and wheeled away like a suitcase, I for one, cannot wait to see what other crazy antics the final movie has in store!
