Comic-Con Trailer Breakdowns

Comic-Con has not disappointed again this year! Here are our picks of some of the best trailers from Comic-Con so far!

This was a difficult one to decide. On the one hand, I loved all the atlantean stuff and different worlds that live beneath the ocean. However I felt that the jokes and one liners fell flat. The aquarium stuff wasn’t great, but the battle scene with the different creatures looked amazing. Speaking with the other ComicfilmsMD Matt, he put it so perfectly, it feels like it doesn’t know what it wants to be, it feels like a DC movie. I love the cast and director of this so I will give it the benefit of the doubt, but I am apprehensive.

This one surprised me. When I saw the photo of Zachary Levi in the suit, I thought it looks bloated and fake. This trailer took any any doubts I had about this movie. It literally had me laughing out loud at a couple of points. It seems to know exactly what it is and is all the better for it. Who hasn’t imagined having superpowers as a kid, this kid is just lucky enough to actually get them! Really looking forward to this.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

I was a fan of the first Godzilla movie but didn’t really think that I wanted to see a sequel. This trailer made me very excited to to see it. When the post credit scene from Kong: skull island showed that this world is full of giant monstered, I was interested in seeing what they were going to do with it. This trailer showed that they are going to mess everything up! I sadly don’t know who any of the creatures are but I have to say that they all looked amazing in different ways. My only concern is that it might feel bloated, but I shall hold off commenting on that until I see it.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

I was very slow to the fantastic beasts world. I enjoyed the Harry Potter movies when they came out but I actually didn’t see fantastic beasts until about 6 months ago, and it was very good! I think it helped with my enjoyment of this trailer. I’m not super super excited about this, but it does look like its going to be a good, fun movie. I was worried that the introduction of a lot of Harry Potter lore would dilute there “fantastic beasts” aspect of it, but this trailer had loads of creatures so I’m sure I have nothing to worry about.

I wanted to be excited for this. I wanted to say this was going to be a great new TV show to watch, but I just can’t. Robin looks great and the “f*** Batman” was a great line. The killing and other characters however was not very interesting. I don’t know any of the other guys and this trailer didn’t really seem me on them or get me interested in seeing what they capable of. It was all very dark as well and after all the negativity surrounding the DCEU darkness, I am worried this is going to feel really moody and grim, and not in a good way. Only time will tell I guess.
